The Association for the Advancement of Surface Parking was created in 2008. We have an irrational fear of parking ramps and the continuous directional turns associated with navigating a vehicle through the maze of multi-level parking structures. The thought of a collapse (cars mixed with concrete and steel) is paralyzing.

We share a common interest in the fascinating study of parallel, angled and straight surface parking configurations. Subcommittees have also been formed to study the impact of various parking signs and paint types to communicate effectively with drivers. Of course, our international membership requires understanding the local parking culture to ensure surface parking recommendations won’t cause needless confusion.
